Prior to departure, clients will be equipped with life-jackets and ponchos, if necessary. Once this is done, all passengers will have a pre-trip briefing, where your guide will explain the trip and safety aspects.
Once passengers have boarded their boat, the trip commences with an exciting beach launch through the surf. Most recently, our highest success rate is to head offshore to what we refer to as the "humpback highway". This is a passage of water from the Robberg Point across to Nature's Valley and the Tsitsikamma Marine Reserve, where migrating humpback whales are often encountered en route to their breeding or feeding grounds.
Occasionally we also head along the Keurbooms Beach in search of breeding groups of southern right whales. This area is also a popular hang-out for bottlenose and Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins.
Depending on time constraints and location of whales, we also try to visit the Cape fur seal colony at Robberg Peninsula, with a chance of spotting endangered great white sharks.
Finally we head back along the Robberg beach, while a brief run-down on the history of the area is given.
After passing the Beacon Island Hotel, built on the site of an original whaling station, the experience ends with an exhilarating “James Bond” style landing on Central Beach.
We suggest clients wear warm clothes, bring a windbreaker, sunscreen lotion, hat, sunglasses and a camera.

Day 1: Tour starts at Ocean Blue Adventures shop, Shop 1, Milkwood Centre, Hopwood Street, Plettenberg Bay, 6600. Tour ends on the beach 300 metres from the Ocean Blue Advntures Shop.
Our Ecological adventure leaves from Central Beach with an exciting beach launch and heads east past the bird sanctuary and Keurbooms beach to Arch Rock. Here we usually encounter Bottlenose and the rare Indo-Pacific Humpback dolphins, as well as some shark species. From Arch Rock we head into the middle of the Bay where pelagic seabirds are normally to be found some 7km from the shore. Out there resident Bryde’s whales may be seen, as well as Common dolphins or Southern Right and Humpback whales during their season. We then traverse the Bay to the point of Robberg Peninsula and out to the Wild side, often seeing groups of whales and pods of dolphins. Cruising back along the inside of Robberg, we see the unique geology from this unusual viewpoint and can observe our growing Cape Fur Seal Colony. Finally we head back along the Robberg beach, while a brief rundown on the history of the area is given.
